We braved the heatwave and ventured out to Dublin Zoo for this years school tour. Even though it was so hot, we still got to see lots of animals including penguins, seal lions, giraffes, rhinos and elephants. Check out the pictures below...
Every year, The Otherworld Festival stakes place in Ballymun at Halloween. There are many events organised including a Zombie Parade, Pumpkin carving competition, live entertainment and fireworks on Halloween night. As part of this event, we were invited along to Muck & Magic Community Gardens where Aifric brought us through a fantastic storytelling and drama workshop where we helped the Witch and the Vampire reunite. Thank you Aifric for lighting our imaginations on fire. As part of Ballymun Safety Week, third class were invited along to the Open Day in Ballymun Garda Station. We gained a great insight in to the daily life of a Garda - from dressing up in heavy jackets and hats, putting on the sirens in a speed chase and interviewing a make believe criminal. What a great day! Today we cooked up a storm in Room 5. We decided to make some chocolate apples in the lead up to Halloween. We melted some chocolate over a pot of hot water, smothered apples in the melted chocolate and topped with some sprinkles too. They were so yummy and easy to make.
Autumn has well and truly arrived and the signs can be seen all around us....
Today we collected leaves, acorns and pinecones. We brought them back in to the classroom and used them as some inspiration for art. Check out our pictures below. Today marks National Fitness Day in Ireland. National Fitness Day provides a platform for everyone to take a pledge to help get Ireland fitter. The day is dedicated to celebrate physical activity in Ireland and encourages everyone to get involved to make Ireland more active. To celebrate the day we took a trip over to Albert College Park. We climbed ropes, swung from monkey bars and used up lots of energy running around and having fun. Check out the pictures below. What are you going to do today to get up and get active? Today we went on our annual trip to the Botanic Gardens to view the sculptures. We were so lucky that the sun was shining and we could really enjoy our time walking through the gardens, admiring all the wonderful sculptures. Some of our favourites were The Tin Man, The Magic Door and the Bee Hive. Check them out in the pictures below. |
